Late night cleaning

Have you ever waited so long to clean something that it got to the point where you couldn't stand looking at it anymore? Come on, you don't have to hide it. That time came for me tonight as I was getting ready for bed. The bathroom floor - uugghhh! I couldn't take it. It had to be cleaned - NOW! So, I stopped what I was doing, went to the kitchen and grabbed the floor cleaner and went to town. The whole nine yards. On my hands and knees. Scrubbing every spec. And of course, once the floors were clean, the rest of the bathroom needed to match (but I must inject here that, yes, the bathroom has been cleaned many more times than the floor has). And once the bathroom smelled of both Ms. Meyers Geranium scent floor cleaner and Method Eucalyptus Mint (aahhh...), the kitchen couldn't be left out. So off I went to the kitchen, determined to get it clean, especially before the semester starts because only God knows when I will have time to do all of this cleaning once it does...And as I was about to start my major kitchen cleaning, God reminded me of something:

I do not have to be perfect, in any way, shape, or form.

Now don't get me wrong - cleaning is good! In fact, I enjoy cleaning. But I think God just used this moment to remind me of something that I so often forget. Sometimes I feel like I have to be perfect, like I have to have everything figured out. But guess what? I can't! "Because if we knew everything, we'd be...God" (Rob Bell's "Velvet Elvis"-great, great book!).

How freeing to know that we don't have to be perfect! And not only do we not have to be, we cannot be...I love it! And this is why Jesus came. To save us from our imperfection. (I find it kind of ironic that sometimes my need or desire to be perfect is one of the imperfections he came to save me from...Hmmm...)

Well, now that all of my cleaning is done - for now at least (and might I add that, no, the major kitchen cleaning did not get done - it is time for me to catch some z's. So...

Until next time,
Kel

Bonjour!

Welcome to my new blog! I am excited you decided to visit. You may be wondering, "What the heck does Comment Belle mean?" Well, I have an answer for you! Comment belle is French for "how beautiful." There are two reasons why I decided to use this as the name of my blog:

#1: Ever since I was little, I have had numerous nicknames that end in Belle (well, some of them ended in belly, and I quickly decided that just wouldn't work for a blog title!)
#2: The words "How beautiful!" have been coming to mind a lot lately. Through reading Scripture, taking a closer look at creation, and spending time with wonderful people, I have seen how truly beautiful God has created us to be.

So, there is my reasoning. My hope for this blog is for me to share my life with you and for you to do the same. I really would like to hear what you have to say about my blogs, as I plan to write about things God teaches me or shows me through his word or anything else for that matter. I can't wait to share more and to hear from you!

Until next time,
Kel
